Personally, I wouldn't buy that..especially for the price. Everyone on here will tell you that the stock setup already is a CAI anyway. I bought my truck with the K&N system that looks just like the stock one but with a filter and a K&N lid to the housing which I believe still runs around $150 or so but I wouldn't have even bought that. You can very easily just upgrade the filter and call it good or make your own system like a few people on here have which I'd recommend...

Granted this system isn't for everyone, however mated with a magaflow manifold back dual exhaust system, this intake setup will make a real difference in your truck's performance.

You can do the exact same thing for much cheaper with a few parts from your local hardware store. a K&n drop in filter and a hose for the intake that is smooth will get you close to the hp of a cold air kit. Making the hole in the air filter housing wider and making a bigger intake scoop for the front will give you even more than a cold air kit could ever offer. sure, it takes a little work, but how many hours would you have to work to buy a $300 intake?

If you want something that looks better, make the top cover smooth with bondo and paint it chrome. Maybe even cut some letters out and make a dodge imprint in the bondo before it hardens.

I've never seen so many people get so worked up over spending a little money, sure I could go cheep and make it myself, out of bits and pieces from a hardware store, but I like my truck and when I put something on I want it to be the best and look and run the best too, so I don't have to be ashamed, because I have a big cobbled up mess under the hood. I use drier parts on my drier not on my truck.

The point here is that stuff is a sham. For $20 you can get the performance of a $300 system. My setup was already on there and looks JUST LIKE stock but it was at least a $150 part...which consists of a K&N oiled filter and a K&N lid for the housing...NOT WORTH $150.

Filtered lids were not designed for cold air systems and you do more harm then good using one, because they allow the hot air from the engine compartment to cancel out the cold dense air advantage of having a closed system, at best it just makes more noise so you think you have more power. When Dodge put a cold air system on these trucks they got it right, but the bean counters always make them cut corners, so they didn't get it perfect, but K&N did, it provides more filter service and gets rid of the turbulent air bouncing around inside the stock air cleaner as it tries to get through the filter and down the into the throttle body. turbulent air is only needed when the air mixes with the fuel just before or after it enters the combustion chamber. If Dodge had gone to a horizontal throttle body manifold instead of a vertical one they would have gained at least 20% more power.

Actually not true. Well in theory yes, but the "COLD" air in a "COLD" air system is no where near cold. The actual temp of the air going in is 90°+. Then it hits the intake and gets up even higher to 130°+.

With the open air filter the air is probably 100° going in, which will get even hotter.

Yes from factory the stock air filter system is basically already a cold air system.
I can conclude from personal experience the open air filter top is better than stock.

I'm with Crazy on this one.
When I put my Open Air filter on my truck the results were pretty pleasing. And its nice to have the air able to come in from all around.

Heres a picture of my intake its a repainted Edelbrock 14"er with a K&N Filter
