Diesel Conversion,Who Has Done It?
I am currently looking for a 96 Dakota, xtnd cab,2 wd,manual trans to do a diesel conversion. I was just curious if anyone on here has done it or knows of someone doing it. I am thinking of an Isuzu or Kubota diesel! I am familiar with the 4bt but two things prevent me from doing it. 1.) COST of engine 2.) Noise! ,well maybe three lolol 3.) weight. Let me know what you have done or seen. I also monitor the 4bt site so I am not new to the diesel conversion world.
^Why not do it yourself? That is the whole point of the automotive hobby, doing whatever makes you happy to your car however you decide to do it. Maybe the op has all the knowledge to do this job better than a diesel mechanic, who probably would know how to fix a diesel, but swapping one into a truck that never had one would be new territory for them too.
will make for an interesting project. if it wasnt fr the frame on my dakota i would consider swapping my 7.3l idi into my truck and go for towing, but i don't want the lugs snapping as soon as i drop the motor onto the frame(motor weighs over 900lbs dry)
