hi guys i am currently driveing a 92 2wd auto dakota and i think the tranny is a dog i was wondering what tranny i have in it and where i can get a shift kit for it. i think its a a500 or a 42re not sure.

 

V6 auto = 42RH which is part of the A500 category of transmissions. Check the FAQ for year listings on transmissions for further reference.

TransGo makes a good "shift improver kit" (search TFOD-JR) or a traditional shift kit (search TFOD-HD2)

Yes the V6 auto is a 42rh

V8 auto is a 46rh.
