(don't say "can't be/just replaced it" i have had bad parts before)
my suggestions; 1) crank sensor 2) cam sensor ("distributor pickup" or "hall effect") 3) pinched wire, something not plugged in completely or not at all
4) the notorious Dakota splice *not* in any particular order
