ok heres my delima i have a 1994 dakota im changing trannys i have one out of a 1996 the only differance i can see in trannys is the 96 has a output speed sensor in it(in front of cross member)and on behind cross member.now my 94 only has the one in the rear of the cross member,has anyone done this swap and if so did it work.(theyre both 4 speeds).i was told only a 94 and 95 would work,im just wondering if thats true or has someone made this work. it has a 3.9 in it thanks in advance

 

92-95 will work for the V6 the V8 version will work as well. The 96 transmission is completely different since it is computer controlled. Vs 95-down is hydraulically controlled. So the 96 transmission will not work on your 94 without serious modifications to your entire wiring system.
