Default OD solenoid.

hey guys,

I pulled the OD (aka tcc) solenoid from the tranny the other day. I want to replace it to try to fix my overdrive issue. when I pulled it out I noticed that the assembly has two solenoids. one on each side. when I look at advanced auto parts there is only one solenoid on the assembly. did someone install the wrong one? I'll post pics when I get home from work. thanks.

It sure looks like a piece of one of the clutch packs. Definitely needs a rebuild before it completely kills over.

$2,000 if you let the shop do EVERYTHING.
$1,000 if you remove it and take it to get rebuilt.

The only bad thing about you doing the R&R your self is if there is a warranty issue where it needs some work done on it, they will require you to remove it completely and take it in.

There are depending on the transmission a few clutch packs in there, they will consist of a steel plate, then a plate with clutch material, then another steel, then another plate with clutch material ect ect. What you have appears to be one of the steel plates that obviously has been broken. A lot of people are intimidated by automatic transmissions but really when it comes right down to it they are just like any other machine. If it was mine I would pull it, tear it down, rebuild it and put it back in. You will be spending a fraction of the cost of having a shop do the work for you.
