dodge stock radio
can anyone tell me what the green and black connector is for in the back of a 1994 stock radio? i m trying to put a aftermarket one but i cant get any power. i bought the harness adapter matched color for color still no power. the radio is good just took it out of my other car.
There are two power supply sources for the radio (and sorry I can't figure out the colors from the wiring diagram in the FSM.) One is always on--it maintains the radio's memory and the setting on the clock--but doesn't keep the radio or the illumination on. The other is a keyed source--only comes on when the ignition switch is in an on & running position. You can scope these out with a multimeter set to the DC 12 volt scale. If you don't have a multimeter, get one. Harbor Freight always has one on a coupon for free with a purchase. If you were local to Tucson, I'd happily loan you one of the 5 I have in my tool box--they are so inexpensive, I toss them out when the battery dies.
I would get a factory service manual as well. Haynes (I have one of those) just isn't good enough. The Factory Service Manual is the bible--everything else is inadequate.

I used to be an installer and used this site from time to time. Here's another good site I used for wiring info when putting in remote starts:

Hope these help.
