help please 1994 dodge Dakota 4 cylinder
Hi i have a 1994 dodge Dakota 4 cylinder i just bought it and it had a leaking rear main seal and as i was going to buy a new seal it caught fire i got the fire out quick buzz it burnt the wiring harness i rebuilt the wiring harness and I'm getting power out of the coil but nothing out of the distributor i replaced the distributor and nothing the only thing i could think of is the fire shorted out the coil so it's not creating enough power please help any ideas
Welcome, mud. Sorry about that fire! Wish I could help, but maybe old Crazy (don't let his name fool you. That old boy knows his Dakota's!) will chime in. I do think it will be a fairly easy and cheap fix though.
Did you replace the whole distributor or just the cap? Check the rotor as well. If you are getting power from the coil through the coil wire going to the dizzy then you know that the wire is good. Of course you know that the engine has to be cranking in order to get anything out of the dizzy. If you still have no spark then you may need to replace the crank sensor. Who knows what that fire damaged. Glad you got it out quickly and no one was hurt.
I replaced the cap and button and the coil could the ignition coil pickup be my problem or could it just be the crank sensor also the gray and green wire that go into the coil should both be positive or what
