Default "Shocking" question...

What kind of shocks do you guys run? Mine are all rusted out, so its time to replace them. Im considering rancho rs5000 series, but perhaps something cheaper. I like the boot type shocks. i think skyjacker has some too.

Need input. Please & Thank ya.

I scored some KYB Gas-A-Justs on Rockauto clearance for like $25/ea, so I run those. They seem to be plenty fine, but I haven't done anything extreme yet.

Really depends on how you use your truck? Towing, hauling, off roading? Give a few more details.

96 4wd, 5.2. Gabriel gas shocks. My truck has the tow package, whatever that is. Mostly I drive it around town and on occasional trips. Never off road, tho. Gabriel shocks are cheap and work okay. Rock Auto has a bunch of Monroes on closeout, btw.

I've had KYB on another 4x4. They were just fine. But no extra points for purty or fancy names. So I get the standard shocks and replace 'em as needed.

All the above. I tow a 7' flatbed, I haul loads up to 800 lbs regularly. I go off road, and thru deep snow, assisting in emergency management. Considering a plow too.

Come to think of it, I dont really know if theres one shock to do all the above.

I need "Lord of the Shocks"...one to rule them all. Maybe ill put some airbags on her.

If you do a lot of towing/hauling and you want to get rid of some of the rear end sagging you can get the Monroe load assist shocks. For the rear.

Cheapest ones they sell on rockauto, that's what I have. I replaced all of them and it rides like new. I am not particularly familiar with what the advantages of the aftermarket ones are.
