Default 1992 Dakota with 5.2 V8 has starting problems

My 92 Dakota with a 5.2 V8 has trouble starting after it sits for at least an hour or longer. I crank the starter but it will not fire for at least 5 seconds. If after the engine starts I turn the motor off and wait 5 minutes it will start right up. My first guess is a fuel issue regarding the throttle body in regards to the fuel flowing back into the tank and not staying in the throttle body. Is there a vacumn hose that could have come loose? I resently did a tune up with new plugs, cap and rotor so I'm sure that isn't the problem.

the 92 isn't throttle body injected. Let the fuel pump run until it shuts off before starting and see if that fixes it. if not, have someone check for spark when this problem happens.

come back with the results and we can go from there.

Checking for Spark is a good start.

It does sound like a fuel pump issue. If able, check the fuel line, and listen for the pump. I believe a quarter turn will engage the pump.

Well Inuchan 187 that did the trick. I turned the ignition on for 5 seconds and then cranked it over, started right up! Thank you very much!

I'm still confused though as why there wouldn't be gas in the throttle body.

its a magnum, the throttle body has no fuel at all, just air flow. these motors are fuel injected, so the fuel goes from the rail into the manifold. never goes up higher
