I have a 93 Dodge Dakota 5.3 litre V-8 extended cab with auto trans that cranks and cranks at normal rate but won't start. I did an ignition error code check and it came back 55 so what should I do now to troubleshoot this issue. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of money to dish out because my wife and just started up our own business and $ is tight. I am confident on fixing my truck have worked on several vehicles in past from brakes to tranny replacement and engine removal and replace. Basically I have worked on most major part like starters, altenators, brake boosters ect. but I know nothing when it comes to the brain and electrical so please help a 40 year old newly self employed man from losing the business or truck due to ignorance of certain mechanics. What or where should I go from here? How do I tell if my engine is the one other members are saying is known for this issue? I would hate to junk this truck. It was given to us by an elderly couple that took good care of it and passed smog this march with no problems now this. Oh side note the prior owner did replace relay switches and fuses at engine firewall because of an issue but I am not sure of what it was think it could be the same thing?

First, you need to find out what's missing, spark, or fuel. Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you first turn the key on?
