Ok so I've noticed that my gas gauge is going haywire what could be causing it. It tics back and forth then drops to empty the goes to full and so on.

Most likely the wiring is shorting out, or the connector is dirty or loose. It is also possible it is incorrectly placed so as you drive it moves with the fluid.
