Default Steering Box Recall?

Okay so, I have another question. On my 90 Dakota is there a website I can go to look to see if my truck has had the recall done for the steering box? Or is there a way I can physically tell? Thank you in advance.

Just contact dodge or a dealership, give them your vin and they can check for recalls.

it was a recall on the rack & pinion, it would come loose from the frame. look and see if there is a plate welded to the frame where the two mounting bolt pass thru. would be on the back side of the frame where the nut is. the fix was to weld a small plate to reinforce the frame.

Thank you. I will have to take a look at it when I get time. I did also contact Dodge via email so we shall see.

Good news. Heard back from Dodge and recall was done in 2003.

I got my build info from Dodge and mine HAS not been done. Are recalls indefinite, such that once I put mine back together (in boxes when I bought her), they'll do the work? And will they do it on a modified truck with a different engine?

I'm not sure but, I would talk to Dodge or your local dealer. The only downfall is that the parts might be NS1 or that's what they might tell you meaning the parts have been discontinued but, I would start with emailing Dodge and see what they say. It's worth a shot.

has expired..........if yours is 2wd then check the rack&pinion where it attaches to the frame, that was the issue it would tear off the frame resulting no steering. the part is simply a metal plate they weld on the frame to beef it up. i put a giant washer there to get it to the dealer.
