Control arms do not pivot
Sounds like your torsion bars are cranked so much they are resting on the bump stop so when you jack up the frame there is no suspension travel, just lifts instantly. Take some pictures of your suspension.
The problem is with the torsion bar. The upper control arm is slammed on that bump stop and the torsion bolt is just enough in to hold every thing in place. God damn why.
Correction; when the bolt is hardly in my control arms pivot but any thing after that an the movement becomes limited as the bolt turns up.. It hardly has to be turned up

Take some pictures. I know you were installing a trailmaster kit and I am unfamiliar with them. Are you using the standard keys or lift keys? With the torsion bar backed right off does it sit the other bump stop or does it get hung up?
I don't know how to post photos on here I'm on my phone. And same keys it has a drop bracket. When I put my tires on an put the weight onto the bars when tightening then the worked correctly.. I haven't got a clue why
