Dome light wont turn off?
my dome light in on 27/4 on my 87 dakota. Anyone know how to fix it? I've been disconnecting the battery for now but im getting sick on it. If not ill just rewire a switch so I can turn it off manually.
I am having a similar issue with my '01 Ram 1500. My issue is, I can't turn my interior (instrument cluster, climate control panel, etc) lights up at all on the ****, or else my dome light comes on and stays on; Should be to where the dome light doesn't come on until the **** is turned all the way up and clicks, but that is not the case. I'm wondering if replacing the switch (****) assembly would cure my issue, or if it is somewhere in the wiring, and if so, how I would go about fixing that.
Pop the cover off the dome light and remove the bulb, it's easier than disconnecting the battery.
As far as fixing the problem, another thing to check is the door switches, especially the one on the passenger side. Also make sure the doors are shut completely. My passenger door doesn't latch quite right and it looks like a disco party in the cab when I go down a bumpy road.
Willster: When you rotate the switch do your dash lights fade smoothly down or up, or is it full-brightness or nothing? Do you have to click the switch into dome-light position to get the dash light to come on? When the dimmer switch fails it's default mode is usually full-on or full-off.

I'd pull the Time Delay Relay first, see if that kills it.
Then, I'd be checking the voltages into it. Since if it shorts internally, all the interior lights will stay on.
(I'd also add a light to the passenger side light socket - which I've never seen one with a bulb in it! - to see if all the lights are on, or just the dome light.)
