Default No gauges except speedo working

So all at once my tach, temp, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel gauges stopped working. Specifically tach is at 0, fuel at 0, voltage at 0, and temp and pressure are pegged to H. Speedo works of course. Parking brake indicator doesn't work, high beam indicator does. All backlights work properly. I'm suspecting a bad ground, but before I dig into it I'd like to ask if anyone has had a similar problem?

I'd check grounds first also; then the instrument cluster fuse.

Thanks Ralph will do. I know this should be a simple problem but time is very precious right now and i would like to limit time screwing around. I'll check the grounds that I know of and go from there. Think there are any grounds outside the cab that could cause this?

If your pushed for time, How about finding one of the gauge grounds, and just run a second one to see if anything comes back on?

The gauges SHOULD ground to the cross brace inside the dash (drop the knee blocker and lay on the floor looking up; you'll see it across there.)

If anything, run a wire from there to the cab and ground there (to help the whole thing ground).

But for quickies, check the cluster power fuse. I don't remember what year yours is, or I'd look and see if I could tell you which fuse! I have all the FSMs 1992-1996 on tap, and a 1988 FSM also.

Was the fuse! I didn't expect that the high beam indicator and park brake indicator would be run off different fuses but I learned something today. Thanks guys.

It's usually the simplest thing

So what year is yours, and do you have the FSM for it already?

It's easier to trace; helps we can pull an instrument pair or a single gauge and see if that's what's blowing it.

(With the speedo still working, I'm presuming it's a 87-93, since 94-96 use an electronic speedometer ... I THINK yours is a 89 or so, but my memory is not what it used to be. My doctor says I'm having problems with short term memory. He also says I have problems with short term memory. What were we talking about again? )

Sorry Ralph I should have mentioned. I have a '93 with a '94 motor in it. And yeah I got the FSM somewhere. Haven't had to use it in a while thankfully! I'll break it out and do some investigating.
