New to the forum, and I'm picking up a 94 Dakota SLT V8 4WD tomorrow. It's got just over 150k miles. I'm pretty new to the Dodge world, but I do have experience working on cars. Does anyone recommend a K&N drop-in air filter for a little extra boost in performance and gas mileage? How about muffler recommendations? I like the growl of a glasspack, but is there something else that sounds better with the 5.2?

Also, has anyone taken off the ugly wood panel dash and painted it? I really don't think I can look at that too long, so I'm hoping it's an easy fix. :P

Any other things I need to know about this model, or this era of Dakotas?

 

K&n is all preference I personally wouldn't. Exhaust with a cat or no? I like dynomax. But go cheap get a flowmaster glass pck and call it a day. I've got a dash piece that was painted by the guy before me. Looks alright
