Default Rear brake line replacement

Hi, new here. I have a leak in a section of the rear brake line. The section that is leaking runs from the master cylinder, along the chassis to a joint just below the fule tank. Is this a simple fix for a somewhat novice mechanic? Also what do I need to watch out for and what tools will be required? Thanks J

Default RE: Rear brake line replacement

This can be done by a novice, but you need access to some tools. If you can get the OEM replacement line, I would definitely recommend that. If not, you will need to buy generic relacement line and cut it to fit. To do this, you will need a double flare, flaring kit. In addition to that, you would be miles ahead if you also have flare nut wrenches, as they wrap around the connection fittings, but are still open and don't spread like standard wrenches do. If you don't have access to these tools, save your money and have a shop do the work-- in the end you will be money ahead. Unless you did a lot of tubing plumbing, you may never really need these particular tools again.
