Default '92,V8,318 CU.

hey guys, girls,

this is for a frind of mine:

he's got a Dodge Dakota,Bj 92,V8,318 CU,

sometimes, while he's driving, the engine is switching off, like someone switching the key. The hole engine power dosn't work and all of the instruments in the cockpit are on "0", only the light does work.
if he's knocking on the black box (pictures) the engine is starting again,..... 'till nest time.....
what is it, and what is the box for, how is the name of the box, and what does it cost
the problem is, we have to wait for 1 year until Dodge comes to germany.

sorry for the grammatic

thx for the help

Frank

What you are talking about is the Power Train Control Module (PCM), The Main Computer. From the sounds of it though, you may have a faulty ground. On the rear of the engine on the passenger side, a ground wire is bolted to the head. Make sure it is tight! I had the same exact thing happen on my 93 5.8, and I believe it may have help cause the PCM to die at a later time.
