Can a transfer case from an automatic mount to a standard and can you reamove the tail housing on a standard from a 2 wheel drive and mout the transfer case
Can a transfer case from an automatic mount to a standard
The bolt pattern will match, but then you have to also have the same size spline shaft, and the proper length input shaft on the transfer case. I believe automatics typically require the shorter input shaft and 5 spds the longer.
can you reamove the tail housing on a standard from a 2WD and mout the transfer case
2WD trans (auto or 5 spd) won't bolt to a transfer case by swapping out the tail housing, you have to have a 4WD trans.
only works with the autos because they can be split in half
Well thanks Shadow, I just learned something. I was told (by someone I thought would know) that to do this would require changing out the main shaft in the automatic - not nearly as simple as swapping tail sections.
