Default Florida truck=no rust but lost of dry rot.(my to-do list)

have been going through everything on my truck to see what all I need to get done to have it in perfect mechanically speaking. I bought the truck almost two years ago and have replaced almost every sensor/ fuel pump and filter/ tune up/ shocks rear and front and a few aesthetics here and there.

Right now on my check list is as follows: upper and lower control arm bushings both sides, motor mounts, sway bar bushings, front body mounts. As you can see a lot of worn out rubber.

I've done all my own work so far and will continue to do so. This is my first vehicle and an amazing learning experience. I've learned it's ticks and tricks and never abandoned it when it's been sick. Since going through all the stops on the sensors and fuel pump it starts easier than my dads 10 yr old ranger.

It has 85k on the clock and not sure if its been rolled back but it runs like new.

I'm mainly starting this thread to keep track of things I need to do next. Also if I need to ask any questions. The great people on this site have helped me all the way through and I look forward to learning more from them all.

ignore the typo in the title...

So my first question is with the motor mounts. What all do I have to do, can I put a jack under my oil pan with a block of wood to hold It up and do it one side at a time? Any recommended brand? poly or rubber? ect.. It's the 3.9l auto if that makes a difference.

As always thanks for any and all advice.

Rubber motor mounts. Urethane ones are too stiff--darn near like having solid motor mounts.

Yes you can put the jack under the oil pan. Be sure to use a fairly large chunk of 2x6. You want to spread the force as much as possible.

I have some that I got from O'Reilly, can't remember the brand but it's the only brand they offer. 8 months after I installed them, one of them is showing a split. They were expensive, I thought, but have a limited lifetime warranty. So when I change my engine later in the year, it'll get replaced.

85,000 miles is possible. I'd strongly suspect that it hasn't been rolled back. Not as easy to do as it was even as recently as the 80's. As you may find, things deteriorate while sitting unused. When you get it running, take it out on the Interstate for an 'italian' tune up. Which is, get it good and warm, and run the crap out of it. Drive it hard.

yea make sure to check the tranny mount really good my 92 had to be replaced due to it sitting, split apart, I bought it last year with less miles then you, and currently only has 136000km's or 84506 miles roughly but I got it from the 91 year old original owner with the banker box of documents for paper trace of miles :O

check oil pan first and make sure it don't show signs of rot before jacking on it.. otherwise a block of wood up front on crank pulley if oil pan looks bad.. all else fails cherry picker for the win :O
