I'm going to wait until I get the bushings. Sorry for the delay on my posting here. Anyways, just curious where is a good point to lift the cab without hurting anything? Thank you.

when i did mine i uses a small hydralic jack and a 4x4 post cut to length and lifted close to each mount with the post against frame for support only lifted what was needed for my new mounts and the body lift....

loosened all bolts all away around.. left opposite side still in to prevent cab from sliding off the frame ...lol(my box almost did DOH* ) remove all on the side im working on.. and then replace, snug all up but not tight do other side.. ... i had to do box aswell cause of body lift but otherwise adjust body and tighten down..
i got lucky with all mine and they came off with exception of one in the rad support but nut was easily accessed from between rad and motor..

What size is that nut? I've ran into the same situation (trying to pull a body lift off a parts truck) couldn't find any thing that could grab it. I kinda put that project away until the snow goes away

If you're planning to do them in the spring, start soaking the bolts now. Give 'em each a blast of PB Blaster once a week or so. Should break loose a lot easier when you get to them.

WD40 is pretty worthless as a penetrating oil, it evaporates too fast to provide much soak.

And when you get it done, could you give us a review of the Energy Suspension parts? Fit, how they effect the ride, etc. I 'pect more than me are going to be interested.

I just lifted with the rocker panel lip. All depends on the the condition of the rockers.

I've got the Energy Suspension bushings but they are not installed yet.

If anyone is interested, there is a prothane kit that comes complete with all your nuts, bolts, spacers and bushings for about 100 bucks on the ground dynamics site, it comes in red or black.

Nice catch.

Especially with the bolts etc. included.

The energy suspension kit relies on reusing the old original plates, which are likely rusted a lot.

It's listed for the 2wd 1991 to 96 but it likely fits the 87-91.
I can't see the cab mounts being any different. 4wd, 2wd, or whatever year gen 1 dakota you have.

I went through the cab bushings one time with Murray's Dodge here in Brandon, getting dealer part numbers and comparing 2WD vs 4WD. They are the same whether it is 2WD or 4WD, we couldn't find a difference. Dodge still listed some of the parts as available, but for the price of the entire Prothane kit, you would probably get one set of rubber mounts from Dodge.
