As far as my research shows, the 1987 model was the only 3.9 Dakota engine that had a carb. The 1991 should be TBI.

Now I got a carb from a 1988 Chrysler 5th Ave 318 V8. It will fit the 1987. Some of the vacuum posts are different so I will have to do some figuring there. I don't know if other Dodge vehicles used a carb beyond 1988.

If the carb has that goofy small bolt pattern and it fits, I'd try it.

The stock 6280 Holley's are pricey for sure.

I found the 318 carbs are a slightly different bolt pattern than the v6s. I tried to put one on my old 3.9l and the pattern was different.

theres a factory carbd dakota sitting in the junkyard in franklin, wisconsin the guy might let go for $40. I saw it last friday when i was there for other dakota parts.

Hmmm. I need to test fit it then because it sure looks like the same pattern. I'll try it tonight as I have the carb off and a 1987 engine sitting on an engine stand.

I'll report my findings.

I did a test fit and the carb from a 1988 Chrysler Firth Ave. 318 V8 does fit on the Dakota 3.9L just like the factory carb. It does require the removal of the factory 3.9L carb studs and replacing them with just some short bolts.
