Default catalytic converter options.

Alright so I have a 93 3.9l auto. Been working on it more recently and My catalytic converter sounds like marbles are in it when the truck runs. So I'm guessing the enternals are loose and rattling around. I live in florida so I don't have any inspections to pass and don't want to spend the 100+ for a new cat. So what does df think is the best route, cut the cat off hollow it out and weld it back up or just cut it out and weld in some straight pipe? Also would this effect the way the truck runs?

As always thanks for and insight.

Either way works. Just be fore warned that the noise level will increase a bit with no cat and even hollowed out. I've done both but just flat out removing it is easier.

Just cut the cat out and weld pipe in. I did the same thing to my 98 f150. It does get a lot louder but I like the noise. And your truck might throw an o2 sensor code.

Not worried about noise as long as it isn't rattling anymore. O2 sensor is before the cat so idk if that matters. Looks like I'll be doing that this weekend. Thanks!

Any idea what size exhaust pipe I'll need? I believe these 93s have 3" but I wanted to be 100% as I'll have to go out and pick some up.

2 1/2" I believe...atleast that's what I ran on my old 93.
