*EGR delete plate for a 3.9l LA block?
Does anyone know where I can find an EGR delete plate for my 1991 Dakota? I can make one but I currently dont have resources to do that. Is there a place to get one? My EGR went bad a while back and just have it dumping into the engine bay currently and the vacuum plugged that leads to the solenoids. This method is frowned upon by Virginia State inspectors. The truck runs better without it on there anyhow. Im not buying a new one. Thanks -Travis
in a pinch maybe you take it off and braze the hole closed. or may be one for a 3/4 or one ton might be a flat plate. OR a factory one made to go to Canada? that is how my dad got a gas tank fuel tube for leaded fuel, 1982 D250.
Your truck should actually run almost the exact same with or without it. In any case, we still had EGR here in Canada. The EGR system didnt stop coming here until the engine was improved. If you want a delete plate though, go see a structural steel fabrication shop. I work at one and if someone came in and that was all they needed, then it would be free or a cash job for under 5 bucks, with or without holes drilled. With a good understanding that you would be spreading the word and business cards. Also, it would probably be made from 18-8 gauge unless thicker was requested. Most shops just throw away anything that is under 4 sq ft anyway. I work at one of the biggest shops in western Canada
Get some scrap sheet metal and a pair of tin snips and a sharpie. Oh yea a drill for the bolt holes. Then no one will notice its blocked and you can hook up the hoses as if there weren't anything inside it plugging it up, for inspections.
