Default 95 Dodge Dakota v6 4x4 transmission

I have replaced the lock-up sylanoid and it still stalls out the engine when I place it in gear. Any other suggestions?

I moved this to the 1st generation Dakota sub-forum.

Most likely it sounds like a bad IAC Idle Air Control valve/motor. They are common problems even new out of the box.

Next time you change gears hold the brake and apply a little throttle and see if you can keep the engine from stalling out.

Yes I have tried. Once it gets rolling it will pick up and go on but it shudders until you pick up speed. When I pull to a stop sign I have to hit nutral and coast through and then place back in drive or it boggs down and dies.

Possibly a vacuum leak which would include a bad EGR valve. First I would check for correct fuel pressure when it is acting up. Any check engine light codes?

I had a problem like this on my dakota. I replaced the ect behind the ac compressor and it solved the issue. Might be something to look into.
