R12 to 134A conversion.
As an aside, I now live in Louisiana and had to leave the truck there when I left in Dec. '06 (the truck had already been sitting for months when I left). I had a buddy with some free time fire it up and drive it 1845 miles out to me. It was like eight years never happened. Started first time and ran all the way here without a hiccup, and has been running perfect since.
Love this truck! Need cold air!

R12 was phased out because of the freon in it. R134 was selected because it is not flammable, as some of the alternatives are. Think collision, and your air conditioner turned into a flame thrower.
Seems to me that Mopar Action magazine did a story for their project '96 Dakota. They used parts from a '98 and everything bolts in, you'd have to check their website for the back issue.

Well, I have a new problem: the field coil on my compressor is bad, and I can't find a new one. Anyone got a source, or maybe a '92-'93 compressor they want to get rid of with a good clutch?
Ebay has plenty of compressors, but I'd like to use my original, not a $250 reman or one off of a beat-up wreck that may not even work.
Help appreciated!
