Default Brake lights not working.

I have a 93 dodge Dakota and the brake lights will not work. All other lights work. Replaced brake switch and still no brake lights. Out of answers.

Time to pull out the wiring diagram.

Do you get 12V at one side of the switch? If you depress the pedal, do you then get 12V at the other side?

How about where it goes into the turn signal switch and/or the hazard lamp switch (in case they're two separate switches on yours - verify with the manual!)

If you don't have the manual, you can always buy one off Ebay - but you can also get them from AllData's DIY page and Mitchell's DIY page for online access.

(I say this because my 1988 manual set may be somewhat the wrong side of useless for your truck ... )

just curious you have checked the bulbs right? they are dual filament so just because the tail lights work doesn't mean the brake lights do (I've seen it more than once is why I even mention it) trace the power until you find where it stops

Tested brake switch and have 11.30.
Does that mean the brake switch is bad or the wiring?

Checked bulbs and fuses. They are all good.

11.3V at the hot side, or on both sides?

If on both, when the brake light switch is open or closed (open == "not pressing on pedal", closed == "pressing on pedal, applying brakes.")

A single number on a switch like that doesn't tell much of anything.

That's like "And now some scores from last night's football games. 12. 27. 13. And 9."
