Thanks for the help. Much rather have the v8 but was the only decent vehicle I could get. Might trade it in on a used lot once I fix the timing tensioner.

hughesengines.com will have cams and other stuff. They specialise in Magnum motors and will give free tech help to customers.

if you want power... simply do a v8 swap, just get a donor wrecked vehicle, its not that complicated.. but takes some time

If you want fuel economy, ditch the dakota, they werent known for economy, hell the EPA rating on a 2011 4.7 4x4 is the same as a 1992 318 4x4 so tells you something lol ..

I get pretty good gas mileage. But who gets a pickup for the gas mileage haha. Yesterday I ran into another project. I pulled the side molding off, sanded the sticky craps off and got own color matching paint from O'Reilly but who would of guessed it didn't match? Plus I can't return the paint so what I'm going to do is sand the whole truck down and paint it red camouflage.
