which transfer case ?

Default which transfer case ?

i have an 87 dakota .it came with a np231d and 272 ratio .i have a 88 donor truck im getting the transmission out of and putting in my 87 the transfer case in the 87 is a 207d with a 261 ratio . the 88 is a np231d with a 272 ratio .Using the 88 transmission which transfer case would be better and why if you have any ideas.thanks

I don't know much about the 207 but it was only offered in 1987. The NV/NP231 has been offered in Dakota's, Rams, Jeeps from 88-up. Tons of aftermarket due to Jeeps. Go with the 231 if it fits on the 87 transmission, correct bolt pattern and input splines, at least you know your driveshaft is the correct spline count. Hopefully the overall length will be the same so the driveshaft will still work.

thanks crazy the trans goining into my 87 is going to be an 88 second gear went out of the 87 i found an 88 donor truck im getting the transmission from and was just wondering about switching the transfer case any of the parts i need i should be able to get from my donor
