Angry Alternator Help

Hi Guys,

Still having some difficulties with my alternator Just can't seem to find where these two ground cables should go. One comes out of the small black box located behind the alternator, and the other cable comes from the large stack of wires.

I have already looked at a ton of 95 dakota images and videos that could possible give me a hint, but haven't found anything similar (not even in the manual). I would greatly appreciate it if someone could provide me with a pic so I can see where these grounds should go. Thanks! (95 Dakota 3.9L V6)

As I said before, the one coming out of the alternator connector goes to the front of the engine on the right side connected to the heater hose adapter tube mount (along with the battery negative to engine cable). The smaller one is coming out of the rear side of the wiring loom and connects to the back of the motor (along with another ground cable from the motor to the firewall).

It doesn't matter too much where they are, as long as they are bolted down to a clean metal surface without paint. And as long as the battery negative is connected to the body and engine, and frame would be great to add in. Again all clean metal to metal no grease or rust or paint in between. See picture below. It appears that someone removed the cables out of the wiring loom in your truck.

Thanks man. Its more understandable now with the diagram you provided. I also had the suspicion of the cables not being in their original place. I went to take a look at another Dakota yesterday similar to mine, and the ground cables I was looking for weren't there. So I have to agree with you that someone most probably removed the cables from their original position. It looks like I will have to find a new place for them, since the small cable definitely won't be able to reach as far as the back of the motor.

On my truck, the larger ground wire crosses in front of the motor and is bolted there. No clue about the smaller wire.

Thanks for the pictures. I decided to place the grounds on different locations since the cables were moved around and they won't reach where they were before.
