I have a 92 dakota that won't shift into overdrive .the push button light stays on ,i can't get it to go off. I did manage to get it to go off once and it shifted fine.the transmission shifts ok otherwise.i am going to check the switch continuity next.any ideas???

 

For a long time I thought I had a problem with my overdrive. In my truck I have a cable from the throttle that runs down to the drivers side of the transmission to a lever. In my case this lever was all gummed up and not returning all the way back. I just soaked it in penetrating oil and worked it back and forth until it moved properly again.
