It'll work, but for how long, I don't know.

The bell housing will fit as is (both are LA or Magnum motors), but the clutch will probably have to be upgraded. Again, the old one will WORK, but for how long, don't know.

You will need a 5.2 manual flywheel.

Ralph, when you say upgrade the clutch, exactly what do you mean? I think the stock is 10.4. If you go to a 11 will it bolt up? Also, I think the splines are 23 where as the newer trucks with a v8 are 10 spline.

There's more to the clutch than the size. I meant you may need a clutch with better frictions (possibly a different size), that would grab with higher torque. The one off the V6 may work perfectly fine for you, however, depending on how you drive the truck.

Ralph. Do you have any recommendations ie brand etc. I know rock auto and others show different ones. But I have yet to find anything listing high performance or even anything about material make up of the disc.

Brand of clutch? Dude, I'm totally shiftless - I just LOVE my automatics! (At least partly because of needing stuff the wife can drive, and right now she's got a bruised hip and cant' even run power brakes ... )

That said - I'd be seeing what's listed as standard for both motors with a standard transmission. If the same clutch for both, you should be good. If different ones, then I would bet it'll be due to the higher clamping / better frictions on the V8 clutch.
