95 exhaust on a 87
As some of you know, the 95 exhaust is 2.5 in. vs the 87 being 2 in. In order to put the 95 on the 87 I had to do the following. 1. I had to purchase the rear tailpipe rubber hanger for the 95. It is about an inch longer then the 87. 2. I cut off the front tailpipe hanger on the 95 exhaust. 3. I used the orig. 87 muffler hangers. They actually have holes in them big enough for a 3in. pipe, so the 2.5 muffler fit fine. 4. I then simply used a 2.5 x 2.0 adapter to tie back into the orig. exhaust just past the converter.
Below is a picture of the 2 exhaust side by side. It was very simple to upgrade to the newer exhaust. Caught it on sale at pepboys and got it all for about $85.00 to my door. I did this so when I eventually upgrade the motor from the 3.9 LA (125hp) high performance version. to a 318 magnum, at least the exhaust will be correct. Next on my list is a new radiator with fans between the radiator and condenser. Then an electric fuel pump.
If anyone is interested in other pictues, let me know and I will post them.
