Gas Tank
#6
EDIT I had assumed it was a 1st gen, mine is a 94 Dak
You can find many videos of this being done in multiple ways on Youtube.
I assume that question is half joking since the pump should be right in front of you with the bed off.
Make sure you have disconnected the battery. I had a lot of spare towels on hand to absorb any spill.
Disconnect the wire harness there is a tab to lift. It should come off easy if it isn't you haven't lifted the tab enough yet. Then disconnect the fuel line which comes out of the metallic part on top there. There is a horseshoe shaped thing that you pull up (it may come off) and the hose slips right off. Keep the end of it above the level of the fuel in the tank. I wedge it up against the cab. Then CAREFULLY remove the hose that goes to the rollover valve. That valve is next to impossible to find so be careful of breaking it as it is also very brittle. ty to get some lubricant between the hose and the nipple before pulling.
If you do not have pump pliers big enough I use a large flat head screw driver and a hammer. That is usually what you see on Youtube. The most difficult poart other than trying not to spill the fuel (the pump is full of it and it is also open so it leaks and spill out all over, if you have the patience another member has told me it will drain if you stand there holding it above the fuel in the tank for 3-4 minutes or so) is getting the pump back in with the rubber gasket that seals around the inner lip of the threads the large nut tightens on. Try to get the pump in then pout the nut back on carefully being careful not to move the pump too much or the gasket comes out on you.
Good Luck! OH yea the float arm should face the front of the vehicle.
