Default 2nd Gen hubs?

I know we can swap in a 9.25 axle out back with some massaging, what about front hubs? Been debating the question for a whole but no access to a 2nd Gen that isn't totaled in the front. Would have better brake options with 2nd Gen hubs being my main concern.

I seem to recall that full-size (D150 or Ramcharger) disc brakes and rotors can be bolted to 1st gen Dakota hubs (that is, the 5 lug variety). That would give you larger brakes for the front. Maybe someone here can verify this is viable.
