Default Control Arm Bolts???

Does anyone know the size and length of the bolts that are used to mount the control arms for the 4x4 gen 1s?

I'm in the process of de-rusting, painting, and installing new ball joints and bushings in a set of replacement control arms that I picked up from a scrap yard.

I'd like to replace all the bolts with new ones if possible. Does anyone have the size/length of the two bolts for the lower control arms?

I know the upper arm bolts on with 9/16 bolts, but now sure what their length is. Any advise on this?

I dunno, and the original part's discontinued, but for a 1988/1989, it's a part 3815 473 - and you can still find those on Ebay and a few other places.

I'm going to have to take another look at the setup, but it doesn't appear that the setup on the 95 take any special parts to bolt it all together. Just bolts.

I was just reading through the PDF version of the service manual downloaded from the FAQ section, and going off memory, I'm thinking the Installation instructions for the upper control arm are wrong.

The installation instructions refer to the same image (figure 8 on page 2-12 and 2-17) used for the 2x4 setup, where the control arm sits on top of the camber/caster adjustment bracket and uses a bolt with a special bolt. While looking at figure 3 on 2-15 and figure10 on 2-17 shows the 4x4 setup where the upper control arm sites under the adjustment bracket and appears to use normal hex bolts.

So, long winded post short: I just need to figure out the length of bolts needed for the upper arm, and size and length for the lower arm.

Guess I'll be crawling around under the truck in the morning when I get home from work

A further question:

Is a torsion bar removal tool required to loosen and unbolt the torsion bars on out trucks?

The service manual makes no mention of a special tool in the removal/installation instructions. But I'm sure I've read/watched elsewhere that it's near impossible to remove and install a torsion bar (on other trucks?) without the tool.

C-clamp will work just fine in place of a torsion bar removal tool.
