Jack up rear axle and start engine in neutral and see if problem goes away when placed in gear and allowing wheels to turn....If it still dies you probably have an engine performance problem....However I suspect it will not die when placed in gear.....If it does not die , then check fluid in neutral and make sure its full or go ahead and do that first....A faulty trans cooler can cause this problem, unhook both lines and tie them together momentarily and see if the dying goes away, if it does then replace cooler....If dying is still there, check to see how much fluid is actually flowing in the lines...It should at least pump one quart in a 20 second period in neutral....If it does, then converter is faulty mechanically..If it fails the 1 quart flow, then the problem is in the TCC system, valve body, pump, tcc solenoid,etc....
