Default RPM gauge reads low 94 5.2l

Today i changed my IAC valve and the truck runs great. It warms up around 1000 to 1500 then kicks down. It used to run about 500 to 700 every start no matter cold or warm.
The problem is that at idle that sounds normal, idk like 500, the rpm gauge reads 200 ish. Does this mean i need a new one? How is this thing connected? Is it adjustable?
Thanks!

Did the rpm gauge issue start right after the IAC was installed?

i dont think so. it seemed to register lower than what the actual idle is when i got the truck but im not sure. I'll look up the standard idle and the standard warm up idle then compare my readings.
