Three things that i have learned about a throttle position sensor, that might help some.
It will cause high idle when first cranking, pat the gas and it will idle down.
It will cause the truck to die if you crank and put into gear as soon as you get it running.
It will cause your transmission to shift to another gear and immediately shift back down. I had put a new tps on and its started this gear changing too much and i finally figure out that it was causing a surge in the motor and would cause it to shift up and immediately shift back down when the rpm dropped. the surge in the motor wouldnt really be noticeable driving. I went and put the old tps back on and solved my problem of gear changing too much. thought it might help someone.
