Default 1993 Dakota LE 3.9 V6 auto - STEERING SHAFT

Hey everyone I'm new to this forum - this is my second Dak now.. had an 02 QC 3.9 which I sold in TX and now have picked up this 93 2wd 3.9 v6 for $300 off craigslist..

only issues so far - Rack and pinion and a brake line.. problem I've now run into is that the lower section of the steering shaft is garbage - it was originally seized to the rack and pinion as well as the upper section of the steering shaft.

my question is does ANYONE know where to buy the lower section of the steering shaft?? I know junk yard or a fab shop but just seeing if there is a company that builds the lower section that I can just buy..
anyone know??
any help is appreciated.

Might not have been seized - the factory manual doesn't mention the 6mm roll pin that's in most of them.

IF you know the diameter and spline count on the R&P shaft, and on the bottom end of the steering column, AND the distance between them, you can order the stuff from Flaming River to make one.

I've not taken the time to cipher it out yet (read, been too hot to just play on the truck) but they have sets on Ebay where you specify the diameter and spline count of both ends, and you get either a 18" or a 36" shaft that you cut to the right length to connect the two ends.

That's about all I know of, save for a junk yard.

thanks you, that's the one I found a little bit ago.
I found 2 daks in the local junk yard - both look fairly complete
gonna go check them out this week.

Near as I can tell doing a search if the shaft itself is OK you can just replace the upper and lower knuckles.

I may end up having to do that.

looked it over today and it aint... Horrible... it could be worse.
that being said it is still ****ty lol so gonna go check out the local part yard. if they are worse then I'll find a shop to re do the knuckles and slap it back on.. then for a new rack & pinion and brake like... then I THINK it'll be able to hit the road... could replace a **** ton more but for $300 it would be sweet to roll it easily. and just replace everything over time
