96 Dakota no power under load
my same thoughts IF it were a carb...and in many ways I still prefer carbs, lots easier to troubleshoot and I do still own many classic vehicles that have them.
I've been looking at local wrecking yards for dakotas but no luck so far. I already paid $120 to have my pcm repaired and tested, It did have issues, but the report back was that it tested good after the repair. If you cant get a reliable rebuild at a place that does only that, who's to say a remanned unit from Rock or any other parts house would be any different. Even if out of a salvage car, I'd be interested to see if ANOTHER one in any shape acts any different.

Not meaning to get off track, but the reason I plan to use a carb on my 87 when I put a V8 in it, its easier for me to troubleshoot and get to run correctly.
There are a few other reasons as well, but will leave that alone for now.
What ralph suggested is good, but I thought you already had a scanner.....
Yes I have a BT OBDScanner and the paid for version of Torque. I did use it early on in this troubleshooting but it kept showing that all sensors were doing as they should, BUT I never did any sort of data logging. Im back at work again for how many days who knows. I May try to do this next time I get a chance. Right now somewhat driveable, but entire time its acting like the timing will not adjust as you start getting valve pinging when you try to put it under much load, at the same time of course the continued lack of throttle response. Ive got 9 other vehicles, not like I have to have this one, just wanted to get it going if I could.
