That guy has a couple convertibles, I know because he's on the Dakota convertibles FB page.

I never knew there were any Dakvertibles manufactured with a V8 until I saw his. The numbers check; seems to me that should be one valuable vert.

Would love to see that roll across Barrett Jackson to see what real value is. Always felt these trucks were undervalued. A rare one off should be worth more to a collector and would be good publicity for these trucks. Anytime I mention mine to anyone I get blank stares...it's like a vehicle lost...and never existed.

I thought the same thing regarding the V8 convertible, that it would interesting to see what it would bring on Barrett Jackson. If I had the space (and could get my wife to agree ), I'd grab this one. People tend to assume my truck was modified, until I explain that it came from the manufacturer that way. Occasionally I run across someone who remembers seeing them when they came out.

A few years ago you could find Dakvertibles in good shape on eBay for about $2K. Now they're considerably higher, but still very reasonable compared to older muscle cars. I used to think the value suffered because they weren't offered with a V8, but even the Shelby Dakotas aren't commanding a lot of money. The people that were teens when these trucks first appeared are in their mid-forties now, so demand should start going up soon if that group follows the trend of buying the vehicles they sought (but couldn't afford) as teens.

I've got the room but the money is my problem. That's one beautiful truck.
