95 dak intermittent no start
95 3.9,this truck has been sitting for 3 years.it was low on gas so i added about 8 gallons 2 weeks ago and it started and
ran.this past wednesday i added 4 more gallons and no start,this morning i added 4 more and it started.i backed it up on my ramps and cut it off.now im back to no start.i noticed the gas gauge is not working too.i looked for the 3 wire splice by the pdc and couldnt find it.any ideas would be greatly appreciated

More info,it about 45 minutes ago it started and i let it run for 5 minutes or so.i cut it off and it restarted,also gas gauge still doesnt work.going to try it again in a couple of hours
The FAQ page has a code section with the list of codes. The gas gauge and fuel pump can be problematic. Search the site for posts about it. I would first concentrate of figuring out if the relays are good since you have a code.
off the top of my head code 42 is some kind of internal computer failure.
As far as the gas gauge issue I would bet it is seperate issue from the computer issue. I have had 4 of these trucks and all but my 1990 had gas gauge issues, I got used to just relying on my trip meter and refill after so many miles;
on my 93, as unreliable as my gas gauge was (usually stuck on "E") the low fuel lite was dead solid reliable, if I hit the gas station as soon as it lit up I knew that it would take somewhere between 15.7-16 gallons meaning I had 6ish gallons left.
On my current 1992, the gas gauge comes and goes, and when it works, it "bottoms" out at 1/4 tank, when it does not work it is on "E" with the low fuel lite on, even knowing the tank is full.
Again I'd treat that as a seperate issue. On the 93, I replaced teh fuel pump 3X, twice just because of the gas gauge, each time it worked for a while then quit so as long as it ran I gave up. I put 72K on that truck with the gas gauge being dead for probably 65K of that time untile I wrecked that truck badly with over 202K on it. (up until the wreck I had NO intent at all of getting rid of that truck!)
I do have a Mopar reman (used, bought from a 'yard) computer here collecting dust for a '95 Dakota with a 3.9/auto. Had it as a spare ever since I had my '94 that had that engine in it. (my 93 and current '92 both came after the 94 and both are V8's) If interested Email me at volaredon@att.net.
On your starter relay idea; when you say "it won't start," does it turn over (starter crank the engine) when you hit the key? If so, then it is NOT the starter relay causing the problem!

Don,it does crank and will run if i pour gas down the throttle body.thanks for the offer on the pcm.ill keep it in mind

well then you have either a fuel pump problem or a fuel pump wiring issue. could be FP relay or ASD relay.
could also be a problem with the part of the computer itself that tells them relays what to do and when.
but not t starter itself, or stater relay.

Check fuel pressure, because if it'll start by pouring gas in the throttle, there's probably no fuel pressure. Could be the pump or check valve. Also since it sat for 3 years, you may have to clean the tank out. It may have turned to Jello, and the pickup for the pump could be sitting in it.
What's the 3-wire splice?
Another thought: reseat the PCM cables and check them for corrosion.
