Tie rod / front suspension help
I used Centric Posi-Quiet pads...and I have a hilariously excessive amount of brake dust. They stop fine with no noise, but damn they coat the wheels. So don't buy them.
Also, don't be surprised if you strip the caliper mounting threads inside the knuckle and it may be a good idea to have a helicoil set on standby. I stripped two of them with very little torque. You would need a 9mm x 1.25mm helicoil set. If you don't need the truck immediately, it won't matter if you have to buy the kit after you need it, but if it's your daily driver and you can afford it I'd recommend having the helicoil set ready.

Thanks tbugden,
I have a set of reverse drill bits and a starter bit and two different extractors from one of those universal Harbor Freight drill sets with almost every item that you can use with a drill motor in it. and I have a metric tap & die set. I don't expect I will get to it for a couple months or maybe not until next spring. But I like to research and be prepared even if I don't need to drive it I don't like to get stuck like that.

Toby's list is fine for 4WD.
For 2WD, you can drop the CV shafts, pitman arm and the idler arm; add the rack and pinion. Also, while it's apart due to age, I'd look at new spring seats for the coils (again, 4WDs used torsion rods, 2WDs coil springs for the Gen1's.)
BTW - Toby? If 4WD on a Gen1, you won't have a rack and pinion, so no need to worry about the R&P seals *grins*
