'94 Dakota Wiring Dilemma; Please Advise
Hey Y'all; a year ago i had a cranks but no start issue...my buddy installed new fuel pump, then the splice under the relay box which was good, then changed out the camshaft sensor as well as the crankshaft pos sensor...still no start. I up and bought a new computer for it but still would't start. Finally, another guy came with a code reader and that pointed to the crankshaft pos sensor. He then found that the connector plug to the wire harness was bad....today i know those plugs can be fixed but at the time, he cut that plug out and crimped on some spade connectors...That got me rolling for a month when one of his spade connector crimps pulled loose. At that point, i elected to splice a short piece of wire to fix that wire back and that got me going again and some time later, i had to fix yet another spade conector and then lately, i go out to crank the truck it won't start....i'm thinking easy fix right? i removed some black tape and another wire had come loose(i wondered then if my tape removal may have pulled the wires apart, hmm) anyway, a mechanic came over and properly connected the two wires securely and coated with rubber tape and we've left the remaining spade connector alone cause it looks secure. That did not solve the issue..i still won't start.
Oh yeah, when i tied the wire together, on my own volition and like a dummy, i forgot to remove the neg battery terminal first! Did that fry something?
Now my mech is out here testing voltage everywhere and his next move is to check from the splice back to the crank sensor....he says he may remove the sensor and clean it...?
I wanted to come here to get some help from you know it alls
and maybe say some things i could mention to my shadetree tech before he tears up something.
So sorry about the long discourse.
Thank y'all!

I'm sorry I cannot help you but just want to say that I just posed a very similar problem on my '92. I'll have to double check my wires going to the CPS. I've gone through two of them now and every time I install one the truck runs great till it doesn't a short time there after.
