ok i replaced my fuel pump and its still not pumping i swapped out the relay and still nothing.... could the new pump be bad or is there something im not doing.......
What he said....is the ASD relay turning on? Pull the connector at the top of the tank...using your FSM and a meter check that you're getting 12vdc when you turn on the ignition.
There's no inertia switch per se, though. Not like the one in the trunk of my Cougar, that can be tripped by thwacking the driver's fender as you walk by ...
I'll add to Robertmee - pick up a copy of the Factory Service Manual (FSM), pick up a cheap multi meter (heck, they come up for free at Harbor Freight if you keep an eye on the coupons!), and check the voltage at the pump connector for the 2 seconds or so after the ignition switch is turned on. You can also jump the ASD and make sure it keeps power on.
Is it an aftermarket or OEM pump? I ask this because some get confused as to which wire is which with aftermarket pumps and are connected incorrectly drastically affecting the voltage.
