Default Parking brake won't return to original position after release

Hello all! I am very grateful to have found this forum. I found more useful information about my particular vehicle in a few minutes than I would have on my own in a few months. Hopefully I'll be able to help someone else out eventually as well. Finally my problem is that I pushed the parking brake in to see if it worked..it did but when I released the parking brake it did not return to its original position. The parking brake light is also on is it not fully released? What's going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Mine is doing the same thing, I've just been pulling it back up with my hand. I'll take a look and see if I can fix it tonight. I imagine it has to do with the return spring. If I fix it, I'll let you know what I did.

Sweet I doused mine in pb blaster last night and now the release lever seems to be operating a little more smoothly
