looking to swap engine
I have a 1991 dodge dakota 3.9, and looking to swap the engine to a 1995 dakota 3.9 magnum. Do I have to use the wiring/computer for 1995, or could i use the 1991 wiring/computer?
You'll also have to swap out the speedometer (the 1991 is mechanical; the 1995 is electronic), and quite possibly most of the interior wiring.
When you add the reduced power output of the 1991 V6, I have to ask "WHY???"
I'd get the 1995 rebuilt first, if at all possible.

the 91 has been in a wreck with a bent frame the motor is good with 61000 on it. the 95 has 185000 and the motor has a heard knocking on the bottom end of it . i was planning to swap motor and the automate transmission

Pick up the FSM for both the 1991 and the 1995; compare the two.
Sadly, there's not that much common in the wiring.
(Could be worse, could be a 1996; THAT was an almost complete rewiring job due to the switch to OBDII and the RE series of transmissions.)
