I believe the 96 and 87 have a slightly different crossmember. Another member (ragged 89) told me I would need to weld a tab on the existing crossmember. (87)
No I did not need to remove torsion bars. Ifu knock it back far enough it will turn and u can just angle it out of the Truck. And I'm not real familiar with the older models I'd have to take a look at them.

I did not have to remove my torsion bars...although I did hit my head on them several times. I'm talented.

Well yesterday, I only got to work on it for a few hours. But, I pulled both driveshafts, speedometer cable, vacuum lines, and transfer case.
Today, hopefully I will get the cross member and transmission pulled. Then need to pull the starter, bell housing, clutch and flywheel.
Im a HVAC contractor, so as service calls come in, I have to run them, play latter.
I will update as I go.
Thanks again, for all your help!!

Got the transmission, clutch, flywheel, etc out. Took longer then I expected. Bad news is, there is oil on the old clutch. I started another post about replacing the rear main seal with the engine in the truck.
Tomorrow, I will try to get some pictures up.
